I certainly might have liked this book a lot, I think there was potential. I like books that are a bit odd. But I had trouble getting into it. The choppy writing that jumped all over the place made me dizzy. I couldn't stay focused. I would check out newer books by this author, maybe but this one didn't do it for me. It's too bad because I loved the idea and the setting.Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. 31 Paradiso by Rhonda Huffey was frustrating for me to read. The main character was too much like my ineffective, disorganized mother for me to appreciate. Her reasoning never held weight for me. Her stubbornly and rigid religious, yet hypocritical, parents were too much like other members of my family to sympathize with. It was uncomfortable to read, too close to the reality I've tried to escape from.Aside from that, I didn't think it was particularly well written. I was never able to care for any of the characters, not even the animals. For me, this book was a disappointment. Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. I was sent this book in exchange for a review. Honestly, I really do not get this book at all. It was confusing to me and I'm not even sure what it was actually supposed to be about. Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. Received the book from the LibraryThing Early Reviewers. The writing style jumped around quite a bit and at times was hard to follow. The description of sexual and drug abuse was quite graphic. I did finish the book, but at times it was rough going trying to follow the storyline. I wanted to like the book, but found that it just wasn't for me. Very different.Book is quirky and fun to read the descriptions of Venice and the people there. It was a little hard to follow with her family situation, and her deceased husband. Then I got to the abuse part. Had to part ways with this book. Too graphic and real and unexpectedly came out of nowhere sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
"When Francine Ephesians Didwell loses the love of her life, she is forced to reconnect with her estranged family. She's led two lives up until now, one with her evangelical charismatic family, and another of emancipated rebellion with her lover."-- No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
