This whole story has been viciously mediocre in terms of writing and plot execution but after a good first issue followed by two issues of utter meh this one just felt even more bland. We finally got the big villain reveal at the end of issue #3 but all we got from them here was a run of the mill monologue moment and a weak “mwahaha come to the dark side” attempt before the plot yet AGAIN just has Kate running around shooting arrows and having poorly written convos with her sister.
I haven’t read anything by Marieke Nijkamp before this and I certainly won’t be after. I don’t know if they’ve just only written novels until now, or if they just are totally unfamiliar with Kate Bishop, but their writing feels dated, uninspired, and is the biggest weakness in this Hawkeye run.
