Kami Garcia and Gabriel Picolo’s Teen Titans: Beast Boy continues their retelling of the Titans’ origins following their previous book, Raven, to explore Garfield Logan. They set his story during contemporary times, showing how he struggles with body image issues and desires to be popular, even though it means the possibility of isolating his friends. He also finds out that there may be more to his parents’ research and the supplements they have him take following a childhood injury. Like in Raven, this story continues Garcia and Picolo’s use Slade Wilson as a mysterious figure tracking super-powered youth on behalf of H.I.V.E. Garcia does a wonderful job updating the setting of these characters while Picolo’s art continues to beautifully capture characters’ distinctive likenesses. Colorist David Calderon uses a subdued palatte to great effect, so that splashes of color take on added emotional and thematic meaning. Teen Titans: Beast Boy is a great reintroduction to the character and works nicely to set up this retelling of the Titans’ origins. ( ) sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
