When actress and model Allison Langley leaves her former rockstar husband in the middle of the night, it's all her Oak Hill neighbors can talk about. But the gossip comes to an abrupt halt when five-year-old Billy Barnes goes missing on his walk home from kindergarten. Billy's mother, Rachel, blames herself for being at work and letting her only child walk alone. Cassidy, Billy's teenage babysitter, was also late to arrive on the afternoon he disappeared and blames herself for his disappearance. As the clock ticks down, police are unable to find any trace of Billy, forcing Rachel to ponder the enemies she's made in their well-off suburb. Could it be one of her neighbors who stole her son? Would they abduct Billy to hurt her? How easy would it be to take a child while the parents or nannies are distracted? When another child goes missing, the town is put under a microscope as the police try to get to the bottom of the disappearances. Will they be able to find the two children, or will it be too late? What secrets lie at the heart of this tragedy, and how far will one go to keep those dangerous secrets buried?… (más)

I liked a lot about this book. The author skillfully planted the clues and the red herrings, the multiple POVs worked well, and the ending was satisfying. ( )

When 5 year old Billy goes missing on his walk home from school it sets off a chain of events that reveals the dark side of suburban life. This thriller is told from multiple perspectives and the suspect list in Billy's disappearance is lengthy. The gossip begins to fly and the story has some twists and turns that are unexpected. I enjoyed this domestic thriller, it kept me guessing until the end. I received this book from the publisher via the Early Reviewers program in exchange for an honest review. ( )

I found The Perfect Neighborhood to move a bit too slowly for me. Overall the story was decent, but it let me down and did not keep my interest. The twists were good, I just feel like it could have done with more editing.

Everyone wants to live in a neighborhood like Oak Hill... or do they? On the surface Oak Hill is idyllic and quaint, happy couples and families. Underneath the facade are liars, gossips, secrets and now a kidnapped child. How could so much go wrong in a perfect neighborhood.

Overall I was entertained by this book. None of the characters were really likable but I think that was sort of the purpose. Fast paced and although I had my suspicions of who the villian was it still had me second guessing and wanting to keep turning the page. The flip flop between past and present timelines felt just a tad messy to me. Also so many characters in the story that didn't have much of an arc, that they all sort of blurred. I wanted just a bit more drama/ climax from the ending. I do recommend for anyone that loves a good domestic drama. A quick and easy read.

Thank you to the publisher and LibraryThing for an opportunity to read and review honestly a digital copy.
