Fiction. Mystery. Tricia Miles and her sister, Angelica, are copresidents of the Stoneham Chamber of Commerce. Things are changing in the booktown, and some merchants would say not for the better. They grumble that too many non-book-related stores are moving into the village, diluting the "Booktown" moniker. Of course, the members with other businesses, like the latest, The Bee's Knees, are fine with other businesses moving in. No matter what side of the argument they're on, all the business owners agree on one thing: Tricia and Angelica are to blame. Still, it's a pretty typical day in the life of a small-town Chamber of Commerce until one of the disgruntled bookstore owners is killed-Eli Meier from The Inner Light Bookstore, the most vocal of the Chamber complainers. He sold religious and other spiritual books, but also stocked books on wild conspiracy theories and sold incense, crystals, etc. Eli had never been a member of the Chamber until Angelica recently convinced him to join. He hit on her and she, having good taste, turned him down. He hounded (but not stalked) her, and some might think that was a motive for murder. Stoneham's new police chief is an old friend of Tricia's, but that doesn't mean he's going to go easy on her sister. One might even say that he's going to throw the book at her.… (más)

Six months after the deaths of Marshall/Gene and Grant Tricia Miles is looking forward to the birth of her nephew and some peace and quiet. Then a dead body pops up, a handsome and oh so familiar new chief of police shows up, Mr. E falls and breaks his wrist, a homeless teen starts harassing Pixie and Becca decides Nigela Ricita needs some competition in Stoneham. Tricia can’t ignore...any of this and is back on the case against. Another fantastic read in the Booktown Mystery series! Always a favorite in my book. ( )

It’s a typical day for Tricia Miles. Complaints from the Chamber of Commerce. An unruly and unkempt stranger trying to sell used books. An unhappy woman crying on a park bench. A dead body by a dumpster. Yep, pretty typical. Tricia is dealing with a lot of stuff, including her beloved Mr. E who broke his wrist, but she still manages to find time to run her bookstore, have dinners with her sister, and even have a sort-of date with the handsome new Police Chief. But the new stranger in town is bothersome, the dead body is problematic, and the new Chief invades her thoughts. It’s a well written tale, with a lot of action at the end. The stories in this series continue the lives of the characters quite nicely, and while the books could be considered stand-alone mysteries, knowing the backstories of the characters adds much enjoyment to the tales. I've enjoyed this series and this is another good one. There's a lot going on with a mysterious stalker, Ginnie about to have her baby, a murder of one of the difficult booksellers, and a woman who Tricia befriends who appears to be abused, and a new police chief. There's lots of talk about gun ownership and more of Pixie's
past is revealed. ( )

series, friction, friendship, amateur-sleuth, law-enforcement, bookseller, cats, cozy-mystery, murder-investigation, murder, small-business, small-town, tourist-town, town-politics****

What a suspect list! Great character development and interaction in a good whodunit complete with unexpected twists and imaginative red herrings. Only wish that I had read a few of the other books in series.
I requested and received a free e-book copy from Berkley Publishing Group via NetGalley. Thank you. ( )
