I enjoyed this book. I thought the overview sounded interesting and it was. There was some obvious things that weren't quite believable . I didnt think that took away from the book though. I went with it and found it a good book. I received this book in exchange for LibraryThing Early Review.Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. Taylor Callahan, a teenage drug dealer, unintentionally causes the death of her doppelgänger and takes over their life to leave her own dead-end life behind. But her seemingly perfect new family hides a dark and potentially deadly secret. First off: This is no thriller. It's a quick high school mystery with the feel and literary qualities of a R.L. Stine book. At the beginning and the very end you have to suspend your disbelief quite a bit. Credibly taking over someone's life in their closest family after scrolling through their social media profiles for two hours? Really? The mom and sister act like no real person would: They explain everything and finish sentences for Taylor/Jamie whenever she doesn't know something; like „Oh, did you just forget everything about your life today? Behave strangely and don't look like you normally do? Wait, we don't get suspicious. We explain everything away with a shock and we'll tell you what you would normally do and introduce all the people to you by name and function, even if you should have known them for years.“ And in the end Taylor, who has been - understandably - a bundle of nerves all the time doesn't get suspicious herself? The constant time changes are annoying as well – V.P. Morris switches between past and present tense, often in mid-sentence. Brr... A serious round of editing and tightening would have done the book some good. An OK mystery with logical plot holes which starts pretty slow but picks up considerable speed after the halfway mark and features a satisfying main plot twist. I received this book via LibraryThing's Early Reviewers program - Thanks, LT! - in exchange for an honest review. My first taste of this author was Shadowcast, which put her firmly into my 'read more of' list. This is quite different. It's another thriller, about a young woman, Taylor, who assumes the identity of teenager Jamie killed in a case of mistaken identity. Taylor hopes it's a chance to put her troubled past behind her and have a life she believes she should have had. A different story, but the same high quality of writing. The steady pace keeps you engaged and alert: is anyone going to twig that Jamie is not Jamie, her parents in particular? Is Taylor going to find the life she wanted? Is Jamie's killer going to realise he killed the wrong person? Essential answers that keep you committed as you bump into surprises, dark twists and a sly ending. The moral of this story is quite simple: the grass isn't always greener. And of course, that I shall look forward to another book by this author. What an interesting plot summary. A woman, Taylor, is a criminal who happens to be there when a teenager, Jamie, is killed. Twist is that Jamie and Taylor look alike. So, Taylor decides to take over Jamie's life to kind of get a reset at her own life.
Except for the fact that Jamie's parents are not exactly perfect. That was an entire ride of just "Really?" and "OMG". And not to mention the ending! 😳
I wish I could go higher with the stars, but there was just too much jumping around from the present to the past. I felt it could have been done better to reveal the things we needed to know. And the writing, at times, was a little stale. More just telling us what was happening, instead of showing. It was a little underwhelming, to be honest. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

The story is told mostly in flashbacks and daily updates. The main character is an unlikely heroine who swears quite a bit. The language is rough.
As terrible as the crimes are, the story writing has you rooting for her.
The story was unpredictable and the heroine was very likable but the ending left me angry with the author.
There seemed to be loud morale to the story but the ending seemed very rushed. Like maybe they were in a hurry to get the story published and the author ran out of ideas to push the story forward.
There were misspellings the further into the book I went. Again, was this rushed to publication?
I give it three stars for an intriguing premise that kept me reading but I take away a star for the unnecessarily vulgar language and I take away a star for the brutal yet lazy ending. ( )
