n the home/life connection. I read many books and occasionally write a review about them.

Recently, I have been looking over life coach Carrie Leskowitz OM for the HOME book in which she shares her holistic approach to curating an environment.

When looking at interiors, I tend to gravitate to those with Architectural details. The design elements that typically catch my fancy are interesting angles and textures.

Time spent in my dads work shop, forged in me an appreciation of wood grains natural beauty and I frequently find myself drawn to interiors which exhibit unique wood patterns.

Leskowitz advocates creating a positive flow to promote health and happiness and teaches us to ask ourselves fundamental questions. Of them, my favorite is, “What, or who inspires me?”

I do like an open floor plan and my husband is more geared towards traditional. I'm aware that small changes can produce boundless effects so we have learned we function best by compromising. One thing we both agree upon is our excitement of discovery and with that said we both have tactile interest and appreciate sensory triggers.

Leskowitz establishes when we make choices we may wish to consider, "How does this make me feel?”

We have bookcases full of cherished books and we also have plants, fossils, bowls of shells, and pinecones scattered about our home. We found hiking in the woods, fossil hunting, and spending time at the beach to be relaxing. Our collections of these items remind us of that peaceful feeling. This fits in well with Leskowitz's final exercise which is Home as Self-Portrait. She explains this exercise can easily be accomplished by knowing yourself.

I received a copy of this helpful book from Catherine Kennedy, Freelance Publicist. ( )

Om or the home is a terrific boo to use in finding a home and for personalizing an apartment or home. It contains a wealth of wisdom with researched, tried, and true holistic methods. It addresses the various types of options in creating the correct moods in one's home, as well as ways of healing one's "inside" home. The author also stresses the importance of meditation in order to truly connect all of one's senses and truly connect with and know your infernal self. Only then can one create the atmosphere and mood to heal oneself within and also physically. The two are intricately connected.
The author uses many examples of how our internal "home" reflects our physical home and vise versa. I know most of what she writes are true conclusions. I can also attest to the correctness in her statements that one's mental attitude and thoughts have a huge impact on our health, both mental and physical. As she states, all things on earth radiate a form of energy. This energy force can be destructive or it can be healing. Ancient knowledge through the ancestry of the American Indians and many Asians has been passed down through the ages and has been proven methods.
Much of the medical and scientific population in past history have scoffed at most of it as "wives tales" yet much of it is now being re-implemented into society and medicine. Modern testing and studies have proven these to be effective.
The author addresses the ideas of using crystals, essential oils, colors, The Five Element theory, plus much more to create a mentally, physically, spiritually strong atmosphere in one's internal and external home.
This is a very interesting and enlightening book. However, the part I feel needs to be addressed is that this is written assuming all can afford the various procedures and objects. If one has a small house or apartment, with few storage spaces, the only place for appliances, etc. is on the countertop. I feel there are ways one can lessen the clutter in a creative way that was not addressed. Also, when one lives in a home with other personalities and needs, one cannot fully create thee home to his/her own desires. One must take into consideration the thoughts, needs, and desires of others. I feel this author has never had to choose between paint or milk in order to survive.
This is still a very informative guide with great questions and suggestions at the end of each chapter for the person reading the book to answer and respond to.
I offer a Four Stars rating.
*This book was gifted me with no pressure to post a positive review. This is my honest review. ( )

I really enjoyed the integration of mental and spiritual health with setting up your home. I've heard before that your environment can affect your mood, and the author does a great job integrating the two and making it accessible to everyone. Furthermore, I definitely plan on implementing some of what was suggested in the book, and look forward to seeing how it affects my mood and attitude. Highly recommend for anyone looking to make their home a happier place and improve their mindset. ( )
