This book is pretty unusual and i probably wouldn't use it in the classroom but it was interesting to read at home. Gut-Eating Bugs is a fascinating compilation of true case files such as the hikers drowned in the Grand Canyon desert! The book educates readers about insect development, scientific equipment, and entomologists' ability to aid in police investigations as they study bugs near or on a dead body. Many pictures, maps, graphs, and highlighted sections encourage readers' progression through the book. The strength of the book is its interesting case studies and eye-catching illustrations. A weakness may be that each page is rather "busy" with information, and some may be distracted or lost in the information. In the classroom the book would be useful in a career unit, for example, where students would learn about various occupations involved in crime scene investigations. Science classes could also highlight the particular area of entomology. Junior High boys will love the book simply for its "gross" pictures of maggots! sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
