His suspicions grow when his fellow reporter--award-winning journalist Clifford Nolan--turns up dead, his laptop missing.   Now, Manning is covering two breaking stories and coping with the not-entirely-unwanted advances of twenty-something reporter David Bosch. In a committed relationship with architect Neil Waite, Manning is determined to resist temptation. But he soon has bigger things to worry about. After having read 2 other Mark Manning detectives I was a bit disappointed about this one. It took Craft a while before the plot really took of and a lot of things were quite - or even too - predictable.
Mark Manning has to take over the work of a colleague about a scientist who claims to have found a tenth planet. Well, his colleague turns out to be dead and now Mark has to find out, who is responsible for his death. Next to parties, some dinners and expensive cars we learn more about Mark's private life (his fetish are trainers and other sport gear). Unfortunately it's to much decorum to keep the story thrilling. The reader has to wait until almost the end when the big showdown starts before the 4th of July. All of a sudden this book about the rich and the wealthy in Chicago (and their BMW's) turns out to be a page turner after all. Just a bit too late to award this detective more than three stars. Let's keep hoping that the other mysteries are much better. ( )

Equally as good as the other in the series. This one explored Mark and Neil's relationship a little more and Mark comes across at times as a bit too hardboiled, but that might be done to make sure we don't drift into mushiness. The mystery is decent, if a little improbable. ( )

This was a fun diversion. I didn't read the first book but I really enjoyed this gay lit/mystery. ( )
