The idea of a party, particularly a costume party, is pretty interesting to most small fry, and from what I've seen this topic grabs their attention right away. Particularly after the author asks the question, "what will Maisy be?" Lucy Cousins does a great job in this one of building tension as she makes suggestions for what Maisy might be, only to take that option off the table because one of Maisy's friends --Charley or Eddie or Cyril...-- are already dressing up as that. Frugal mom's like myself, will like that Maisy doesn't buy an outfit, but makes her own disguise. Overall, an entertaining book and one of the better Maisy's.
