Together, Loud Woman, we must leave our comfort zones of good-girl manners, perfection, and fear. It's time to embrace this truth: You deserve to live a fulfilled life... Not one prescribed by society but one beautifully designed by you... Loud Woman, look around. All across the globe, people are depressed, or poor, or unfulfilled. Our planet bears the weight of our collective selfishness. Many leaders are corrupt, and we are plagued with a mindset that there's not enough of everything to go around. Now, look at you. You probably are not living your Loudest life. Burdened by societal expectations for women to be small and Quiet, you have been taught to put your needs last, to always show good manners, and to see other women as competition instead of allies. That's how Jill was too-overly accommodating, giving, polite, and selfless. But as she watched Dr. Christine Blasey Ford bravely tell her story and testify about Brett Kavanaugh's attempted rape, Jill thought, this is what a Loud Woman looks like. Speaking up and telling the truth-and doing so without apology or explanation. Inspired by Dr. Ford's act of honest courage, Jill realized, right then and there, that it was time for her to get Louder too. Loud Woman is part memoir, part self-help, all manifesto, confession, and plea. It's Jill's love letter to you, Loud Woman, so you can be inspired by her journey and embark on your own. Inside these pages, you will find a guidebook on how to live a Louder life-from how to push through your fears to trusting yourself more. It's Jill's hope that, after reading Loud Woman, you too will look in the mirror and proclaim, "This is what a Loud Woman looks like."… (más)

This was an Early Reviewers Book. I love women who stand up and speak out. It requires a certain kind of bravery and willingness to fight. This is not my personality, but give me postcards to write for causes, let me donate and pass the word on. I am thankful for all the Loud Women! ( )

Dump the good girl and find your inner fighter. This book will show you how!

Every individual (man or woman) has the right to be who they were made to be. I believe finding your quiet is necessary to become that person. Silent strength is something that is not easy to develop. Once you have it, it can speak louder than any voice. I was not a huge fan of this book as this was not the way I found my strength and purpose in life. But…to each their own!

I started reading this several months ago and only got about a chapter in and realized I wasn't quite ready to read and absorb the information. And I wanted to be in the right frame of mind. Today was that day. I sat and read the rest of the book pretty much in one sitting. All errands complete, nothing on television of note, so I read. And read.
I know there will be plenty of folks who would disagree with the content or the idea of promoting feminism. That's addressed in the book. Feminism is not a bad word, a derogatory term that some make it out to be. It does not mean man-hater, down-with-motherhood, etc.
I will admit that it often had a zealot feel to it, but no longer. I embrace the term in my own tone. Especially since I will say I am a Loud Woman. It's to be supportive and lift up each other, don't drag someone down to make yourself seem better. Be a voice for good and better treatment worldwide.
As I read this, I could see the ways I've become stronger in my sense of self and I know that I have more to grow. I admire the author for admitting to her human frailties and how she's grown as well. And what she can do to be a better Loud Woman.
The book is written in manageable sections. Each section is broken into chapters relating to that section's subject. Life lessons, memoir, guide and uplifting quotes. It's a firm but gentle smack in the face to wake up and be better and keep doing what you are doing to be a better you. It's okay to be afraid but try to do that which scares you anyway.
I am glad I requested this on LibraryThing and that I received it. I am not always one for self-help books but this one intrigued me.
It's going on my keeper-shelf, something I rarely do.
I can definitely recommend this book. ( )

I liked this book as did my daughters. However, I did find it a bit repetitive and simplistic at times. But it is an easy read and a bit inspiring. My daughter really like the idea of "loud" women. ( )

The book effectively blends career advice, motivational speeches, personal development plans, a touch of spirituality, and solid storytelling, resulting in a book that will appeal to readers looking for a combination of Sheryl Sandberg’s Lean In (2013) and Oprah Winfrey’s What I Know for Sure (2014).

Any woman who has, either overtly or covertly, been told to "be quiet" needs this book - especially since it validates "Loudness" and identifies the many subtle messages and circumstances designed to keep women from being powerful, effective voices of change.
