Fight, Flight, or Shift by Kira Brinamon is the first in the "Billie Blackwater" series. Billie Blackwater is the only shapeshifter in the mountain town of Colorado. She works for Mitch, a very unfriendly and unscrupulous boss who exploits her shapeshifting abilities to spy on the patrons of his illegal casino.I really liked this story, different to other shifter stories, not just all romance and no plot. I liked the main character Billie, very strong, willful and likeable. The relationship between Billie and her father, who arrived back in town after serving his sentence for killing his wife while she was a mountain lion, as he didn't know she was a shapeshifter, was complex and interesting. Keen to see where the book goes and see how this author's writing progresses. Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. I liked the heroine of the story. It is very understandable she hates her dad for what he has done.It is nice to see how their relationship changes throughout the book. The relation between her and her boss is quite over the top. But, over the top can be quite nice. Nice to read and not more than that. I am not so sure I will read part 2. But I am still glad I read part 1. Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. Fight, Flight, or Shift by Kira Brinamon was an entertaining read. Most of the characters were fleshed out enough that they felt real. The drug aspects of Scarlet reminded me of the V in Charlaine Harris's vampire series, but it was an interesting take that pretty much foreshadowed a lot of what future books might cover. I might continue on with the series. Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. I enjoyed Fight, Flight, or Shift. The story pacing felt a little bit off at times, and there were points where some of the supernatural elements felt rushed, making it a little difficult to suspend my disbelief - but regardless, none of this took away from my enjoyment of the book. This was an interesting take on shapeshifting and the paranormal. I liked the protagonist and definitely wanted to know what happened next... so I ended up purchasing book 2! sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

When she was a kid, Billie's father accidentally shot her mother, thinking he was protecting the family from a mountain lion. Only, the mountain lion was her mother, and now Billie is the only shapeshifter left in the mountain town of Juniper, Colorado-possibly the only one left anywhere, as far as Billie knows. Now, Billie works at the historic Silver Coin Hotel, and when she's not serving drinks, checking in tourists, or leading bogus ghost tours, the hotel proprietor, Mitch, exploits her shapeshifting abilities to spy on the patrons of his illegal casino. When she discovers that a local drug dealer is peddling a dangerous new synthetic drug called Scarlet, Mitch wants him taken care of and tries to convince Billie to do the deed. She refuses-but he winds up dead anyway, along with two of Mitch's henchmen. With all three deaths looking like the result of wild animal attacks and a vindictive boss ready to out her secret, the blame is going to rest on her shoulders if she can't figure out who or what did the killing. This book is unlike any shifter book that I have ever read and I loved that about it. This book is mystery meets shifter and it kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next! I can’t wait to read the next one! ( )
