Rosina has been cursed so that the rain will injure her and put her in a deep sleep. Major Clay Worthington has been given the job to protect her from the marauders who wander the land since the war began over 100 years ago. No one knows why the war even began. Nicodemus, the storyteller, relates the story of why. Clay now understands why he is so attracted to Rosina but she is in a deep sleep and his feelings cannot wake her.

I enjoyed this story. It's a different take on Sleeping Beauty. I liked how both Rosina and Clay tried to save each other but it seems as though love's true kiss will not work and they are at a loss on what to do. The story of how the war started was interesting as was the connection between Rosina and Clay. I look forward to more of these Beyond Fairytales. ( )
