It's not easy to spend time with Enid and Rebecca, the self-designated hipster heroines of Ghost World. Their attitude towards eccentricity is mixture of loathing and pity, which is supposed to, I guess, reflect their insecurity. As they both develop feelings towards the same boy, it is clear that they both want something more but are too mired in their sneering detachment. (

Another one of those "should've read this ages ago" comics that everyone has read (I swear I'll read Black Hole and Blankets eventually).

Not amazing, but interesting enough. Pretty much exactly what I expected given the film. (

This book is a fascinating insight into the mind of the disenfranchised youngster, and anyone who can remember being there will probably understand the journey the girls are going on.
