I got this book when I was in the 5th grade after watching a video on it at the Scholastic Book Fair. I am 22 years old now. I never thought I would come across this book again, wow! It was so great and any young kid would enjoy it. ( ) This is a mostly fun mix of a lot of die hard fantasy cliches. The art is good. Monsters are very creepy/scary, gang of friends is cute enough to balance it out. Plot summary: Emily and Navin move to a weird old house with their mother after their father dies tragically. Waiting in that house is a magical (possibly evil?) stone that gives Emily super power. The siblings travel to a fantasy world to rescue their mother when she is abducted by a terrifying octopus/jellyfish thing. The end of this volume is semi-satisfactory. First in a series. I really enjoyed this graphic novel. I thought the plot was super engaging and found the plot to be super engaging and read it in one sitting. I loved both the lead characters and also the various sidekicks. I am curious to see what the future plots will be. This book was super heart pounding and also super fun. I also thought the drawings and writing complemented each other so well! I really enjoyed this graphic novel. Amulet, Vol.1 is a beautifully illustrated Juvenile graphic novel by Kazu Kibuishi that is part fantasy and manga. The story is moving, quirky and fulfills many archetypal tropes that readers will be familiar with. The adventure feels a bit pastiche in the sense that Star Wars is a pastiche. Regardless of Amulet's tendency to rehash familiar archetypal and fantasy tropes, this series is a fun, emotional journey for readers of all ages.
For all its flaws, this is a well-written book. It’s quick-paced and keeps your interest from the first page until the last. You don’t have to worry about young readers getting bored in the middle and not finishing the book. Pertenece a las seriesAmulet (1) PremiosListas de sobresalientes
