Ooh, oooh, ooh!

I've been longing for the next Hanger's Horsemen book for a while now and finally, it's here!

I loved getting to see two main couples' points of view. It really made The Heart's Charge unique and gave si much more to the story, however, there were many backstory things they were spoken of and they were only used as back story and I would have liked to see a bit of reconciliation in at least one of them though I understood why one was impossible with the choices of the father.

My only wish was that the whole of the Horsemen would have been together more.

References to prostitution, a word associated with a prostituted child, and other like mentions, And a few other things so I would recommend 18 read this.

I voluntarily received and reviewed a complimentary e/copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. ( )

Another great book by Karen Witemeyer! Kate and Eliza run a home for abandoned children. Kate is running from a broken heart and Eliza has hardened her heart against love. Enter two horseman, Mark and Jonah. Surprisingly, Mark was Kate's old flame. They work together to catch a kidnapping crew and they find their lost love again. Eliza and Jonah also find love amidst some hardships. Romance, drama and intrigue,, this book had it all! ( )

The Heart's Charge is book two in the Hanger's Horsemen series by Karen Witemeyer. When Hanger's Horsemen Wallace and Brooks run across and lady having a baby, that she does not want, they are directed to take the baby to a fondling home. The home is run by Mark Wallace's ex-girlfriend and they are given a second chance.
This is such a good book. It is well written with strong caring characters. It takes off where book one ends, but there is enough background information given that this is also a good stand alone story. There is action, mystery and suspense through out the story that has not one, but two romantic friendships develop. I enjoyed reading this story, especially the part that deal with the boys who ride the trains and the lives they are forced to live at such a young age. This is a story of second chances and caring for others.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, this is my honest review. ( )

What's better than romance, Karen Witemeyer style? How about two romances, Karen Witemeyer style? This is exactly what readers are given in The Heart's Charge, along with a "double the laughter, double the emotions" story! It's the second book in the Hanger's Horsemen series, and I am once again in love with the Horsemen. This story focuses on Mark Wallace and Jonah Brooks, and the action begins on the very first page, when they find themselves helping to deliver a baby. It escalates when they find children missing and two women needing help to protect the unwanted children living at Harmony House. The children are adorable, they are in danger, and they're sure to tug at your heartstrings.

I enjoyed the first book in the Hanger's Horsemen series, and this book is certainly a worthy sequel. If you are looking for swoon-worthy romance, exciting adventure, and a story filled with faith, look no further! The Heart's Charge is meant for all who enjoy historical Christian romance.

I received a copy of this book from the author and Bethany House. I was never required to share a positive review. These are my own thoughts. ( )

After delivering a baby whose mother is in severe mental distress, former Hanger's Horsemen Mark Wallace and Jonah Brooks are directed to the local foundling home, Harmony House, to find a wet nurse. There Mark is astounded to find his childhood sweetheart Kate who broke his heart ten years ago. At the same time, Jonah finds himself fascinated by Kate's partner at Harmony House, Eliza, whose stern demeanour hides a passionate heart. When one of the local children informs Jonah and Mark that several of the boys who ride the rails have been taken, they take the case and the opportunity to continue courting the two women.

The newest Christian romance from Karen Witemeyer is just as enjoyable as all her previous novels. Doing a dual romance is no mean feat and she gives equal page time to both couples. I was also pleased that Witemeyer doesn't shy away from addressing the real struggles that Jonah and Eliza face as Black people in 1890s Texas, while also giving them the space to experience joy, love, and growth. Recommended to fans of Witemeyer and/or historical Christian romances. ( )

When Mark Wallace left Gringolet two days ago to deliver a prize gelding to a wealthy rancher west of Llano, he never dreamed he'd be called upon to deliver a baby too.
