Great characters, an intriguing plotline, an unusual setting, and an ending that I didn't see coming! Author Dana Mentink includes all of these in Framed in Death Valley and the results are fantastic! Beckett Duke grabbed my heart from the first pages, with his high school memory of being called a monster, a bully, and an animal. Now, he is accused of being a killer, and he's turned away from the one person who believes in his innocence. Imagine his distress when he discovers that his soon-to-be ex-wife is pregnant and that they both are now targets of a killer! It's evident that he and Lainey still share a special bond, but how will they prove that Beckett isn't responsible for the deaths of two women? What will happen to their innocent unborn baby? Danger and suspense are prevalent throughout this story, but it is the faith element that I especially loved. Lainey's strong faith has a positive effect on Beckett, and it's very rewarding to see him begin to believe in himself and God! What more can you ask in an inspirational suspense novel? Framed in Death Valley is the first book in the new Desert Justice series and I can't wait to see what Mentink has in store for all of her readers! I received a copy of this book from the author via Celebrate Lit. There was no obligation for a positive review. What I think you should know: Framed in Death Valley by Dana Mentink is an Inspirational Suspense. It is the first book in the Desert Justice series. The series is contemporary and set near Death Valley. This book feature Beckett, a volunteer firefighter who was framed in the murder of his high school sweetheart and his wife Laney. What I think about this book: I think this is my favorite book by Mentink to date and loved how the story unfolded. I have learned to expect the unexpected when it comes to Mentink! I loved Beckett and my heart broke for him and the things that had happened to him. While I understood Laney’s position and how hurt she was by his choice to divorce her I related to and respected his attempt to protect her from the stigma of being his wife. I really enjoyed the side characters and can’t wait to see what their parts are in future stories.. It was a great story about not letting your past define who you are today. This is such an exciting start to the series. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Celebrate Lit, this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own. From the moment I began reading this book, I found myself unable to put this book down. Beckett Duke and his wife Laney Holland intrigued me. I wanted the two to be together. Framed for a murder he did not commit, he desires nothing more than to keep his wife safe, especially after he finds out she is pregnant with their child. Finding forgiveness fills the pages of this book, including forgiving one’s own self. The author takes the reader through twists and turns that make this book engaging and memorable. I love how Laney finds more support from Beckett’s family than he does. I found the ending to be a wonderful conclusion to this story, so check it out for yourself. There are a lot of interesting (and not overdone) hooks in Dana Mentink’s newest release. One of the main characters is released from jail due to mishandling of evidence, the rugged but beautiful setting of Death Valley, and possibly two people are hunting Beckett and Laney. Framed in Death Valley introduces the Duke family (and I really hope each one of these siblings and cousins gets their own story) as they band together to protect Laney and find the real murderer. The suspense isn’t as intense as many of the love inspired books, but this gave Mentink time to really flesh out Beckett’s and Laney’s characters, which in turn makes them easy to connect with. They’ve both been hurt by others and, years later, are still dealing with the way those events have shaped them. I thought I had the mystery figured out about the middle of the book, but nope, there was a big surprise coming for me. Mentink never disappoints, and I look forward to many more books from her. Disclosure statement: I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
