I'm not sure I like Kathryn Dance as much as Lincoln Rhyme, but it was still a really good story. There were enough twists that I didn't know who the murderer was until the very end. ( )

Beyond excellent! Deaver is the master of plot twists, Just when you think it's over, another twist comes along and makes you turn the pages faster. This book, while bringing to mind Taylor Swift as the main character, has a lot of information on music, the music industry, and even includes some songs written by Deaver.

Fans will not be disappointed. ( )

When Kathyrn Dance, a CBI (California Bureau of Investigation) Agent based in Monterey, visits Kayleigh Towne—a country singer living in Fresno—she discovers her friend has a seriously unstable stalker. Edwin Sharp will stop at nothing to make his delusional dreams come true regarding Kayleigh. As the suspenseful cat-and-mouse game turns deadly, Kathyrn uses her body language analysis skills to unravel the case. Although there were several plot twists, the story seemed to stall in several places. The famous Lincoln Rhyme makes a guest appearance; however, I felt this one was missing the hard edge I'm used to in Mr. Deaver's novels. ( )

Wow, what a long and winding road it was to solve this crime.

A stalker that uses songs of the performer he likes/loves/adores to commit his crimes. Other people that are involved, framed? Or not? Secrets coming to light, jealousy, making up for past times.... There's a lot going on in this book.

And again, when you think you're done, there's still lots of pages left to go. More than is reasonable for an epilogue or so. Which means: there's stil something cooking.

I'm not so sure I like that very much at this point. I mean, when you read several Deavers in a row/close to one another, the way the books are built becomes habitual. The surprise of the 'all is done, but hey', has gone. For now this is my last book in this series.

I liked it, but won't be picking up a new one soon. ( )

Jeffrey Deaver, best-selling and American, is shameless with his plot twists. In XO, he never quits in pulling the rug from under the readers’ feet. Five times, the cops declare the murders solved. But they don’t get it right until the sixth crack.

XO features Kathryn Dance, the California Bureau of Investigation specialist in interpreting body language. She’s chasing down the stalker of a hugely popular country singer when cases of murder break out. Dance is puzzled. So, interminably, are us readers.

Dance is a master interrogator, but Deaver has stacked the deck against her by making the physically impassive Sharp almost impossible to read. That’s typical of an author whose infernal puzzle mysteries invariably inspire words like devious, diabolical and devilish, all of which apply to “XO.” It’s Dance’s toughest case, and one of Deaver’s best books.
