As the third book in a series, this one continues the storyline well. Set during the time of World War II, I looked forward to reading it. The characters came to life.

I definitely feel the books should be read in order in order. I appreciate the story involving performing for the military while incorporating the topic of spies. So check out this book and series for yourself.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own. ( )

This was my first time reading a book by Carole Brown and I really enjoyed it! I could "see" the story unfolding and "hear" the characters so clearly. It was like watching a moving from the 1940s. This was easily a five-star read for me, and I'll be adding more of this author's books to my TBR pile.

I was given a copy of this book for free. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own. ( )

This book has been a very intriguing look at the world during World War II. There was danger lurking around corners and the enemy so close you could almost touch them. Claire is a songbird that soldiers come to hear as they relax for a bit from the war that ravages around them. I instantly liked Claire and how innocent she seemed. She loved to sing for the troops which brought a smile to her face. Claire wanted to do something to show her support for those who were keeping the enemy away.

Wills is assigned to find out who the spy is and for some reason they suspect Claire. Their history together really helps Wills make decisions about Claire that bring him to the realization that she would never go against her country. Now he has to prove her innocence and find out who the real spy is. The author crafts a very clever story where everyone seemed suspicious and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. Somehow information was being passed but Wills couldn’t figure out how it was being done.

The author does a great job of showing the different techniques used to get information across enemy lines. It was sad to think that greed would be the reason that someone would turn against their own country. Power, pride and lies are all characteristics that the spy portrays in this emotional faith filled journey of a war that was unforgiving.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion. ( )

We’ve got the girl on board. The one we talked about helping out? He’s keeping her in line. Neither know the truth. We’re good to go.

And thus another episode in The Spies of World War II has begun... This is my introduction to the spies, and now I need to go back and read about the rest of them. After all, this story held my attention and had me guessing all the way through. I’m sure the first two books will do the same.

Wills Mason and Claire Anne Rayner have known each other since they were children, having the same boarding house as their home address for all these years. However, there is no love lost between the two as one was the brunt of many a joke during those younger years. Now Claire is a well-known singer that spends much of her time encouraging the troops through with her lyrical voice. Wills is a spy, trying to help win the war. There is another spy - one who does not have the best interests of others in mind - trying to figure that out will keep you reading right up to the end!

This ARC was received through the Story and Logic Media Group and CelebrateLit. The rating, comments and impressions are my own and are in no way solicited. ( )
