Elderly Amish widow Ettie Smith helps judge the cookie contest at the local fair and finds a murdered woman in the quilting tent. With so many people around, Ettie doesn't want anyone to know what had happened, so she quickly covers the body with an Amish quilt. Ettie forces her sister to inform the local detective, knowing he will only give her a hard time about finding another murder victim. Ettie and her sister attempt to solve the murder.
