A classic mystery with twists and red herrings and an interesting setting in early Christian Ireland. I found all the names unpronounceable, seems silly but having to constantly pause and decide how Prince Donennach of the Ui Fidgente should sound is a stumbling block ( ) Fidelma en Eadulf zullen gaan trouwen, en voor het feest komen er veel hoge gasten naar Cashel. An excellent entry for this very good series. Fidelma and Eadulf's wedding in Cashel is interrupted by the murders of two men; one a king and an obnoxious person; the other an abbot who is truly evil. Suspects abound, time presses as the lordly wedding guests are eager to return to running their kingdoms and religious houses. Lots of interesting history, dueling aspects of Medieval Christianity, 7th-century Irish law, customs and living. Just the kind of opportunity that brings out the best in Fidelma's use of logic, knowledge of law and history. I really enjoy exploring the culture of ancient Ireland and the learning about the conversion of the land to Christianity. I find it incredibly interesting to read how women were treated and seeing the different concepts of Christianity and how it was changed over time. The story is also fun to read and it is fun to try to solve the mystery. I really enjoy exploring the culture of ancient Ireland and the learning about the conversion of the land to Christianity.
