I wasn’t sold on this series up until now, but they’ve finally started to have some plot and character development that are super intriguing. Eve’s brother has resurfaced at the hands of one of Carlyle’s rival families, Hock, prompting a conference with all the families in attendance, which turns into a showdown between these long-time rivals as Hock tries to convince everyone that he has the genetic-tech that Carlyle has previously kept confidential. The standoff comes to a head with an epic sword fight between Eve and the Lazarus from Hock’s main ally, which is visually stunning but more importantly highlights the increasing qualms that Eve and some of the other Lazari have about being the physical enforcers for the families. Eve in particular is showing increased thought about what her role is and where she really comes from (we all know, of course), but clearly some of the other Lazari have similar inclinations - which is sure to make for an entertaining story in the long run! ( ) I purchased Volume One on the recommendation of some Bookstagram friends. I read one page, ran to Amazon, and purchased Volume Two and Three. Then I read all three in one sitting, then went out and bought Volume Four and Five. With a intriguing mixture of power, strength, and vulnerability, Forever Carlyle defends her family with a single-minded devotion. But she can’t ignore the mystery of her origins, or the tangled struggle for power both inside her family and between her family and the others that rule the world. Gritty art, realistic color, and deft design bring to life a grim world, with complex characters and rules. We follow not just Forever, but her siblings, her serfs, her rivals, her lover, and the Waste as they struggle to survive. People die. People suffer. People are cruel and mean and they lie. And they love. Forever, for all her strength, is still young of mind, almost naive. The plot concerns her exploration of the world and her place (coming of age) as she faces dangers both inside and outside her family. The writers don’t shy away from dark topics and this gives the story a riveting tension. If you enjoy stories with strong female characters, twisting plots, dark and dynamic art, gritty world-building, and blood, then this is the story for you. This excellent series continues with a Conclave of the great families on an isolated North Sea installation. The Lazari of the families have a chance to mingle and socialise while their other family members work hard at their realpolitik. The plot bubbles along without any huge surprises (except for one). More machinations and politics in a post-apocalyptic world Kidnappings, violence, sex and a lot of political inter-weaving make this next volume of Lazarus engaging and entertaining. This volume deals with the negotiations between ruling families and changing of alliances, all overseen by the Lazari, especially Forever who finds out more about her origins. Well-written and illustrated, it is a treat and I’d recommend it any comic book lover. Highly enjoyable and I look forward to the next instalment. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

The world now lies divided not amongst political or geographic boundaries but amongst financial ones. Wealth is power, and that power rests with only a handful of families. As alliances fray and allegiances are tested, these rulers of the world have gathered once more. A conclave has been called, bringing together the leaders, their advisors, and most perilously, their Lazari--the superhuman champions bound to the Families that created them--in one place. While a delicate dance of formality and politics takes place, the stakes are nothing less than world domination. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
