A not-terribly-competent fairy godfather is granting wishes that cause more problems than anything else, and the stories are about how the lucky recipients recover from their blessings. You'd think that the stories would be hilariously funny, but no, they are largely just run-of-the-mill fairy tale retellings, and not particularly good at that.
By far the best book in the series, and the only one that really lives up to the premise, is book 4, A Beautiful Curse by Kenley Davidson. A girl is gifted with astonishingly good looks, but that just makes her life miserable: girls hate her and boys can't see past her looks. She's lonely and only wants to succeed in life as a librarian. When she gets her dream job, her looks ruin her career--until she gets turned into a frog by the fairy godfather, who's livid that she is so ungrateful for his blessing. Then, as you can guess, things start looking up. ( )
