Celebrate Chevrolet's wildly successful 1969 Chevelle SS 396 with this comprehensive publication that covers options for the engine, transmission, paint, aesthetics, and more! Chevrolet's marketing campaign for the 1969 Chevelle changed the SS 396 to an option instead of its own series. For this year only, the SS 396 Equipment option was offered on four different bodystyles (coupe, sport coupe, convertible, and sedan pickup) and in two series (300 Deluxe and Malibu). The clean styling and extended production year saw sales at 86,307 units sold with the SS 396 Equipment option, the all-time high watermark. The SS 396 equipment option offered three engine packages: those with 325, 350, and 375 hp--the latter being available with an aluminum-head option (L89). Two SS 396-specific paint colors (Daytona Yellow and Hugger Orange) were available at a $42.15 charge adding a splash of brightness to the color chart palette. The year 1969 was also the first time that an SS 396 Chevelle came with its own special wheels. Leading Chevelle specialists contributed data to this book, certifying that the information presented is accurate and ensuring that 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396: Muscle Cars In Detail No. 12will be a valued resource guide for years to come.… (más)

The book the 1969 Chevelle SS 396 by Dale McIntosh was excellent and accurate. The 1969 Chevelle SS 396 was a muscle car that was known for its speed. It had a powerful engine that could go from 0 to 60 in just six seconds. As Mr. McIntosh stated, The Chevelle was one of the most popular cars of its time and is still sought after by collectors today. Mr. McIntosh did an outstanding job of collecting the facts on this great muscle car. It is a book all Chevrolet lovers should read.

Dale McIntosh comes through again with another great book on the Chevrolet Chevelle. In this case very specific 1969 Chevelle SS 396. The book is well appointed with both details and high quality color and period photos. The book includes a short background history of the Chevelle to help the reader understand what led up to the amazing 1969 classic. The book is full of details for those looking for ins and outs of the Chevelle SS 396 and its production. Included in the book are short vignettes from '69 Chevelle SS owners. These help to truly bring the Chevelle to life. Finally Mr. McIntosh closes the book with an appendix with Vin #, paint code and options codes--great source of info for anyone wanting to learn the absolute smallest details of the '69 Chevelle SS 396. Definitely worth the read for any automotive fan.

Full disclosure: I received this book as part of the LibraryThing's earlier reviewer program. ( )

It was truly a pleasure reading and studying this book about one of my favorite muscle cars of the 1960s the 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396.”

The author has done a great job in researching info about this great car from the ’60s all the facts and information are easy to follow.

All the CarTech books that I have read have been fully illustrated and easy to follow, with a sufficient amount of beautiful photos so you can follow along as if you are living in that era now. The book is laid it out in logical steps. Essentially everything you need to know about the 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 is here at your fingertips with this book.
