I'm always up for some P. G. Wodehouse, and this book was definitely reminicent of his style. I enjoyed the read, though I always find time-travel confusing and difficult to logically reconcile. Dolley did a reasonable job making it comprehensible at least. The characters were amusing, and the plot (time-travel aside) was engaging. I haven't yet looked for the next in the series, but I wouldn't be upset to read it.Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. Déjà Vu Halloo was an amusing quick read that I received as an eBook through the LibraryThing Early Reviewers program. I like the concept of the author’s Reeves and Worcester Steampunk mystery series and the style of writing but overall I was a little disappointed. I do not feel that this installment as a “stand alone” is appropriate as an introduction to the series. Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. First off, I have to acknowledge that I received a copy of this book through LibraryThing's Early Reviewers program, and I am grateful to the publisher for the opportunity to read this book. I wasn't sure what to expect from this, as I wasn't familiar with the series, but this was way more fun than I thought! All the characters are very funny and fun in their own way, and the mystery was intriguing. It was just a really nice short little book, and really really excellent brain candy--I might go back and read the rest of the series now, because the little taste I've had was really fun! Wodehouse's Jeeves and Wooster, a touch of Arthur Conan Doyle, throw it into a steampunk Edwardian era, and dust with a generous amount of Doctor Who at its wibbly wobbliest, and you'll come up with something very much like the Reeves & Worcester series. Is it Wodehouse? Not quite. Is it Conan Doyle? Not remotely. Is it super fun silliness? Absolutely. Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. The Reeves and Worcester are always amusing, and this is no exception. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

It's Groundhog Day, 1906. February 2nd is stuck on repeat, and only our intrepid trio appear to have noticed. Emmeline senses the meddling of a higher power - possibly her aunt. Reggie's sure it'll be the handiwork of the subterranean horror one least suspects. And Reeves considers it all 'most disturbing.'Can our heroes save the world from perpetual winter? And could ending the time loop be just the start of an even thornier problem? This short novel is the sixth Reeves & Worcester Steampunk mystery and is set a few months after The Unpleasantness at Baskerville Hall."A fun blend of P.G. Wodehouse, steampunk and a touch of Sherlock Holmes. Dolley is a master at capturing and blending all these elements." SF Revu No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
