This cookbook is very well made and easy to use. I love that it is a spiral book that you can flip through the pages easily. The pictures that accompany recipes are vivid and make you want to run to the kitchen to start cooking. It is nice to have a cookbook that is a healthy option which includes scriptures.

I am making the Southwest Skillet Supreme for dinner tonight which you can find on page 85. The recipes are easy to follow and most of the items needed are probably on hand in your pantry. Each recipe includes who contributed to the book and their easy instructions.

If you are looking for simple and healthy recipes this cookbook is for you. With over two hundred recipes you are sure to find many you will want to try out. It was hard to decide what to cook first so I went to the main dishes first. I am a terrible cook, but with easy and simple ingredients and instructions I was able to make several home cooked meals. I recommend this to all those who love to cook and looking for a healthier choice in cooking.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review. ( )

I’m a sucker for cookbooks. I love browsing new recipes dreaming of those perfect dishes to serve my family and friends when they come to stay. For the past year I have been in a cooking rut — trying to maintain a healthy diet often leads me to the same old same old. When I saw Amish Friends Healthy Options Cookbook, I knew I had to have it! Who can turn down tested recipes that are actually good for you?! While this cookbook has the standard categories — main dishes, salads, breakfast foods, etc. — it was the snack options that grabbed my attention. It’s not that hard preparing healthy meals; my issue is not consuming yummy snacks that go straight to my hips 😉 . I chose No-Bake Energy Bites as a test. No-bake means easy in my book, and they were. They were also very tasty. I’m taking these along on a weekend road trip. Sorry convenience store candy bars!

I look forward to trying more great recipes. There are plenty that are gluten free if you need that. Some I plan to try are Nutricious Baked Oatmeal, Cabbage Rolls, and Peanut Butter-Chocolate Granola Bars. Here’s to healthy and delicious eating!

Recommended.

Audience: families.

Genre: cookbook

Are you gluten intolerant? Do you need dairy free foods, or those with less sugar? If you're looking for new recipes that meet these restrictions, then this is the cookbook for you! Amish Friends Healthy Options Cookbook has over 230 recipes, divided into 7 categories, and there are also useful tips, homemade remedies, and a section devoted to Superfoods. I especially like that it is easy-to-use, with a Table of Contents, two Indexes that allow you to find a specific recipe, and plastic comb spine binding that allows it to lay flat. There are also colorful photos that show the finished products and inspirational Bible Scripture scattered throughout the book. This is definitely a book meant to feed both body and soul!

Amish cooks are considered to be among the very best, and these recipes are certainly worth trying. Wanda E. Brunstetter has once again gathered recipes used in Amish kitchens, and she's combined them into this new cookbook that is geared especially for those of us who are interested in healthier foods. I'm looking forward to good food and better health!

WANDA E. BRUNSTETTER'S AMISH FRIENDS HEALTHY OPTIONS COOKBOOK by Wanda E. Brunstetter

This is a nice, lay-flat spiral cookbook that is easy to use in the kitchen. When I think of Amish cooking, I think of wholesome, homegrown fruits, vegetables, and even grains. Wanda takes it a step further and has made a wonderful cookbook that is, for the most part, allergen-free. Many people have food allergies these days and are quite limited on the foods they can prepare at home. This cookbook takes allergen-free recipes to a whole new level. Foods and beverages that are healthy and tasty. Just what you need to keep your family happy, healthy, and feeling well.

A 4 ingredient Peanut Butter Cookie recipe that is dairy-free and gluten-free. They taste wonderful!

The book may not cater to your exact food allergies, but you can adapt the recipes to suit you, even easier than you could with a regular cookbook. For instance, I am allergic to dairy and cinnamon. I haven't found a replacement, so far for dairy, yet, but I use allspice in my baking to mimic the flavor of cinnamon and my family likes its flavor. Our household does not have gluten allergies, but I can substitute white flour for another flour that is in the recipe.

There's a section on home remedies, there is a disclaimer that cautions you to use your own judgment, for them, because there really is no replacement for common sense.

I like the Bible verses and adages spread throughout the cookbook, meant to uplift your heart while reading or creating delicious recipes.

My most sincere thanks to #barbourbooks #barbour @barbourbooks for the complimentary copy of #wandaebrunstettersamishfriendshealthyoptionscookbook I was under no obligation to post a review. ( )

Having read many of the author's Amish books, I was excited to see this cookbook made for healthier eating.

I am often looking for ways to reduce the sugar out of our diet, and add more fiber. I was also excited to find recipes using the super foods, and this book gives me a lot of different ways to incorporate them into our diet.

This little book lays flat as I use it, it is 9 x 6", and won't leave you guessing as to where to find things. Love that there is and index by ingredients, and another by topic.

Do you like me wish you had a recipe for cleaning or homemade remedies? Look no further, all at your hand here. From Allergies to Organic Weed Killer, and believe it or not I need both!

Tidbit: Fresh Pineapple is good for a cough or cold, and can ease the pain of arthritis!

You won't be disappointed to have this one to refer to, a great add for you or friends!

I received this book through Barbour Publishing, and was not required to give a positive review. ( )
