I really enjoyed this book. She made Joseph and Potiphar's wife rally come alive. I love how Sagira is told that she will be remembered for her role as long as men live. She thinks she is going to be the mother of a Pharaoh. Of course as Potiphar's wife she is remembered. But not in a way she wanted. ( )

The setting of this book is during the reigns reigns of Thutmosis and Amenhotep IV. It is historical fiction concerning the life of Biblical Joseph. The story begins with Joseph being sold to a caravan as a slave and his subsequent rise to the position of vizier (2nd to only the Pharaoh). Very well written with attention to detail and also suspenseful. The only reason I did not give it 5-stars is that the story did not continue to it's logical conclusion. ( )

The story of Joseph as told in the Bible is a familiar one; I've read it many times. So I first thought that this book wouldn't appeal to me. I should have realized that anything Angela Hunt writes is going to be GOOD. She take the biblical account and using her attention to detail, fictionalizes it so that I end up thinking, "Yes, it could have happened like this." It just makes sense!

Her ability to weave in information gathered from what must have been a massive research project, and create twists and turns so that this reader always expects the unexpected just amazes. You may ask, "How can there be surprises in a well-known story?" Ah, you'll have to read it to see for yourself. ( )
