This was very good book that provides an important lesson to children. The plot of the book was that the main character/narrator was going to his friend's house for a sleepover. It was interesting that none of the characters in the book were given a name. The friend's dog was the only creature in the book that was given a name. The book provides insight on how the world contains people in different socioeconomic classes. The narrator is in a lower socioeconomic class than his friend, because he doesn't know about maids, butlers, or about proper table manners. The theme in the book is that even though everyone might be in a different socioeconomic class, in friendships, there can be crossover. It doesn't matter what anyone's background or financial status is, if you like someone and have stuff in common you can be friends with anyone. ( )

Little Critter's friend's family is wealthy and he makes observations about their lifestyle which are very innocent and matter-of-fact, not overly jealous. Although he's fairly amazed at the size of his friend's teddy bear.
