I liked the book because the author decided to write the story in the style of a letter. If not every, every other page was a different letter from the individual who found “Oliver K. Woodman”. This made the book different from other ones because unlike a typical story, the story was developed through the letters and illustrations. Students enjoy reading different type of styles so this book would be appropriate for those young ones who do not like to read “typically” written books. Another reason why I liked this book was the use of images. The illustrations took up the whole page on every page because it showed the vast lands that Oliver traveled through. The illustrations helped enhance the story with its great, big, colorful images. I didn’t like this book because the plot was very scattered and hard to follow. This book would be a good read if it was one-on-one, but as a group read, I do not think it would be appropriate. There is too much going on and the focus is lost when various individuals are writing letters to each other. This book would have been “better” if the letters stayed consistent between person A to person B. ( ) Uncle Ray is not able to visit his favorite niece Tamkia this summer. Instead he sends his friend, Mr. Oliver K. Woodman, on a journey from Carolina to California. On Oliver's journey he hitchhikes his way across the country, meeting all sorts of people. This book would be great for a lesson on journeys and the states. This book is interesting because it is all in the form of letters. You learn all about Oliver's journey through letters send to Uncle Ray from all the people he encountered. A wooden man is sent around the U.S. to see a little girl. The man that made the wooden man is the little girl's uncle. The little girl wants to see him very bad, but he is not able to come visit her. He lets his wooden man be picked up by travelers in hopes that he will eventually meet up with his niece. Great story about journeys and states. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
