An intriguing shorter read. There is a lot packed into its 71 pages, with a solid and intricate story, and well-defined characters. ( )

Short story about a girl (Anisa) gone missing for a year, none of her friends and family have seen her, except for her blog posts. Her ex-boyfriend (Will) is obsessed with Anisa, and is trying to figure out where she’s gone. (He was stalking her in the past and Anisa had to put a restraining order out against him.) After a friend of Anisa’s and Will’s (Emily) starts to get curious about her too, they both go looking for Anisa.

This book was okay at best. The conclusion is a bit confusing, but I think I got it. But I really got tired of the weak male lead character (Will) moping over Anisa, and his endless whining inner thoughts. ( )

Review of the Amazon Original Kindle eBook (July 2020)

This one is difficult to talk about without giving something away. Let's just say that it was well constructed to lead the reader through certain assumptions.

Let Her Be is one of six Amazon Kindle eBooks released July 30, 2020 as part of their Amazon Original Hush collection of crime & mystery stories. ( )

An Amazon Original Story. Excellent, as is to be expected from author Lisa Unger. Will is one creepy guy – you can see how wound up he is, how hard it is to keep himself in check, how at times the anger just flows in waves off him. He drove his girlfriend – the love of his life? – away with his jealousy, suspicions, anger. He misses her so much; you can’t help but feel a tiny bit of sympathy for him. But mostly what you feel as Will relates his story is anxiety. For the parts of his entire life that are alluded to and hinted at, for his struggles, for the loss of his relationship with Anisa. And then more and more and more anxiety over the encounter with Emily. Is he what he seems on the surface, hurting so much and working so hard to make himself better, or is he totally out of control and dangerous? Is Emily at risk? Where is Anisa? Read this story and find out. Thanks to author Lisa Unger and Amazon Prime for providing Let Her Be for my reading pleasure. ( )
