The Real Thing is a two-in-one reissue of classic romances from 1989 and 1991. I'd read The Haviland Touch a couple of years ago, having found it used, but not Enemy Mine.

The stories are linked by the international antiquities market and by the adventure, in the tradition of movies like Jewel of the Nile.

In the first one, Enemy Mine, Tyler St. James and Kane Pendleton are rivals searching for the same artifact, as they have many times in the past. This time, however, unexpected danger and a third party (Drew Haviland, the hero in The Haviland Touch) forces them to work together.

In the second story, The Haviland Touch, Drew Haviland finds himself helping Spencer Wyatt, his ex-fiancee, to find a legendary cross for her dying father.

Both stories are a lot of fun--full of romance and adventure. ( )
