Extremely well-conceived & -written scenario mixing real history [present day at time of writing] with plausible projections to create excellent modern fiction. Unfortunately, my copy was never returned when I loaned it out. [sigh] But that *does* say something for the quality of the read! ;) ( )

This book is a 680 page narrative of the far right pro gun, pro little government viewpoint. I was entertained by the book, but do not agree with it's political stance. I think it might even be useful for bad actors in some ways unfortunately. I also think the author wrote it for like minded people to learn from. ( )

I lost sleep and missed work to read this book. I've bought and given away a dozen copies.

If your not into guns or government realism don't read this book. It does drag a bit but is interesting enough and well written. It's definately the kind of book that leads you towards asking questions. ( )

Unintended Consequences is a decently written book with a coherent theme. It is unapologetically pro gun, pro second amendment. I found it to be an interesting story that made me think about gun policy and bureaucratic feature creep. With some reservations considering the political and gun advocacy position of the book, I would not hesitate to recommend this book as a good story and a good read. I do not recommend the book for those who think guns are bad, no discussion allowed. The same goes for any one whose blood pressure goes up in any political discussion. The half star review on this book is obviously driven by hatred of the pro gun theme and not the literary merits of the book. ( )

This book is dedicated to the three women in my life:
My mother, Lucianna Ross, who taught me by her example that you have to spend on your talent and do what you believe is right;
My wife, Caroline Ross, who urged me to start this project and who believed this book needed to be written;
and
My daughter Lucy, who I hope will have more individual freedom when she becomes an adult than her parents did.
