Will definitely be re-reading this and recommending it to all my friends. The world building was great, secrecy, love and intrigue galore. Twists and turns which made me want to read this non stop (damn you life). Definitely a 5 star read ( ![]() "Not never, Tessa," he says, and his voice is so rich and deep that he could be speaking straight to my heart. "But not like this." Love it. Something about Brigid Kemmerer's writing makes my heart happy. I am mad I didn't read this sooner but also I am mad that I have to wait until September for book #2. (#TheStruggle) 1.75 stars, I didn't like it. There's something about Kemmerer's stories that seem to pull you in from the start but then leave you bored and disappointed, I can't really describe why I didn't enjoy book 1 of curse breakers as well as this but I will do my best. This was disappointing, I was worried about this book since I wasn't a fan of [b:A Curse So Dark and Lonely|43204703|A Curse So Dark and Lonely (Cursebreakers, #1)|Brigid Kemmerer|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1574179523l/43204703._SY75_.jpg|50519947] The book actually started off really good and was very intriguing, this was the same for A curse so dark and lonely. However, like A Curse so Dark and Lonely, this book fell flat and became dull as time went on. I did like the concept that Tessa worked at an apothecary and I didn't mind Tessa too much. However, all we hear about Tessa's occupation is that she's good at it, we don't see any evidence for this and I really wanted to see her do some cool stuff with her knowledge. The main protagonists are Tessa and Corrick. There is little to no chemistry between these two characters. Still, its not easy to write a book so congrats to Kemmerer for having the will to do it. audio adult/teen fiction (13 hours, excellent full cast narration) - commoner Tessa teams up with smugglers to try to get much-needed medicine to the townsfolk; Prince Corick struggles with his royal duty (meting out punishments) and with his conscience in dealing with desperate people who are just trying to survive. After reading this author's Cursed series, I decided to try some of her other books. Defy the Night is the story of Tessa and Wes who rob the king's gardens at night for the precious moonflower, the only antidote to the illness plaguing the land. King Harristan and his brother Prince Corrick seem uncaring of the people's suffering, hoarding the herb for the nobility. In some ways, this felt a lot like the story of Shadow and Bone to me. I don't want to give much away but I saw a lot of parallels, not that it's a bad thing. The romance was good and the love triangle (a trope I generally dislike) works out. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
