The author spends much time in the Caribbean diving & his experiences inform his graphic depictions of places in his murder mysteries. This is the second book by Sullivan I’ve read, and third in the series. This time it’s set in Belize, with vivid description of the country. Not as good as the first, I was confused as to why the villain targeted the main characters so ruthlessly. The logic didn’t quite follow for me. Other than that, it was an enjoyable read with likeable characters. I especially was attuned to his description of Mennonites, having just read Menno Moto & feeling pretty well-versed about its culture (& coincidentally I learned on the History channel tonight that Kraft—the inventor of American cheese—was Mennonite). The author’s description felt authentic & in his afterword he says he has relatives who are Mennonite. I plan to read more in this series. ( )
