This was a fun, quick read that I really enjoyed. The story about 3 women who end up, after similar situations, live in different apartments in a quirky house with an equally quirky owner. I really liked the development of the Maude and Sunna characters, but would have like a little more Mackenzie. I felt like we all have a bit of each character within us. I had a feeling of the ending, but enjoyed the journey to get there. It was an enjoyable read that I would recommend. ( ) as a self-proclaimed bookworm, I feel like the fact that it took me this long to finish this book says something. it was not easy to get to the halfway point. It felt slow for me. But the unique plot line is what hooked me initially. I did take a break from this book and read another, and was able to pick it back up and finish easily - so I wasn’t sure if it was the break that I was able to finish or the pace actually picked up. I loved that there was closure to some extent for all of the characters. And I loved that the book came full circle with the mysterious letter writer too, and it was a total surprise. So while I’m glad I stuck with it, I wish I didn’t have to have “stuck with it”. I opened this expecting a rom-com, but I got so much more! The book features a house with three women living on different floors, all with a story and a past. An anonymous letter arrives hinting at an apology and an explanation, but who is it for? As the book flips between POV, the reader learns that all three of the women are hoping it's for them... As they lead up to the anticipated rendezvous the letter hints at, the three women learn more about each other and further backstories revealed. This book was unlike other books on friendship and other thrillers. Maybe a bit of a mix of contemporary with thrilling? It wasn't exactly my favorite, but it wasn't enough to keep me from reading it all the way through. Thank you Netgalley and Lake Union for allowing me to read this and give my honest opinion. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
A poignant and heartwarming novel about friendship, ghosting, and searching for answers to life's mysteries. When Mackenzie, Sunna, and Maude move into a converted rental house, they are strangers with only one thing in common--important people in their lives have "ghosted" them. Mackenzie's sister, Sunna's best friend, and Maude's fianc --all gone with no explanation. So when a mangled, near-indecipherable letter arrives in their shared mailbox--hinting at long-awaited answers--each tenant assumes it's for her. The mismatched trio decides to stake out the coffee shop named in the letter--the only clue they have--and in the process, a bizarre kinship forms. But the more they learn about each other, the more questions (and suspicions) they begin to have. All the while, creepy sounds and strange happenings around the property suggest that the ghosts from their pasts might not be all that's haunting them...Will any of the housemates find the closure they are looking for? Or are some doors meant to remain closed?Quirky, humorous, and utterly original, Sorry I Missed You is the perfect read for anyone who has ever felt haunted by their past (or by anything else).
