This comprehensive dictionary of the Aleut languages is the result of fieldwork and scholarship started more than two centuries ago by the Russian explorers who followed Vitus Bering's first contact with Alaska. It documents all the recorded vocabulary of the language spoken by the people who inhabit the tip of the Alaska Peninsula, the Aleutian Chain all the way to the Commander Islands near Kamchatka, the Pribolof Islands to the north.
