This story is a good example of a fairytale because it contains a moral to teach children to follow their own hearts and also contains some magical events that could not ever take place. For example, a “wise man” approaches the man and the grandson and says that they need to be carrying the donkey. So they carry the donkey the rest of the way to town.
A teacher could use this book in a classroom to teach children that they should listen to other’s wisdom, but they should also listen to their own hearts and do what they believe is also good and wisest.
The setting in this book takes place in the desert which is quite appropriate considering the types of clothing the people are wearing and the fact that they have a donkey. The setting is not necessary for the plot, but it does add and give it a better storyline.
