A stunning tribute to friendship as illustrated by Jillian Tamaki (who won a Caldecott Medal previously for This One Summer). I love that the characters look diverse, that friendship can be so much yet out of the littlest of actions. Reminds me of my best friends.... ( ) I read a review in the NY Times Book Review, and this sounded intriguing, but it ended up falling flat for me. Two little girls meet in a park and really seem to hit it off. They play all day, using their vivid imaginations. At the end, they go home with their mothers, hoping to meet again the next day. They have had so much fun, they never introduced themselves. High point was the pickle pictures, which showed some creativity, that was lacking in most of the other illustrations. A story of how friendship can come quickly and easily to young children. Tamaki's flowing, curved lines of red and green help to tell the story of two girls who spend a perfect day together in (newfound) best-friendship; in a gently humorous twist at the end, the reader learns that the two friends don't know each other's names - but they know other important things about each other, like favorite ice cream flavors. A gem of a book. See also: Want to Play Trucks? by Ann Stott and Bob Graham * Re-read October 2021 (Mother/Daughter Book Club) sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
