No, non è un manuale di teoria della tecnica, è un romanzo. Irvin D. Yalom ci aveva già abituati a sconfinamenti dalla psicanalisi alla filosofia, e qui usa la sua esperienza clinica per fare narrativa. E il libro si fa leggere, con curiosità e piacevolezza…nonostante i suoi limiti: Yalom non è un romanziere, e si vede. Costruire una struttura narrativa che regga per 500 pagine non è semplicissimo. Così fa sorridere che nella grande San Francisco tutte le storie si intreccino e i personaggi si relazionino non tramite 6, ma al massimo 2 gradi di separazione.
