Chairman Spaceman

There's a part of me that feels that there's not much else that can beat a good short story in science fiction, and Chairman Spaceman by Thomas Pierce is one of those.

Initially, I was worried that I wouldn't like the protagonist Dom because he's a white, wealthy, God-fearing man, but Pierce managed to tap into something about Dom that made him forgivable.

I won't say much in the matter of plot, because I don't want to spoil the story, but I feel like the short story is such an underrated thing in literature and this story is one that I think a lot of people would find accessible.

Nice atmosphere, nice story, very neat and tidy conclusion, which doesn't happen often with short stories. ( )
