A dark twist; what would happen if Cinderella never got to try on the glass slipper? A little more on the mature side since the step mother attempted to sell Cinderella to someone she would never be able to escape. She got away and had to work in the castle, but she doesn't tell the prince anything about that magical night. They give Cinderella and the prince a lot more chemistry, so it's much more satisfying and you're able to root for them. (

I did not care for the bad guy at all in this book. I didn't like him being the bad guy. (

Retellings of fairy tales are quite the rage these days. This one is both fun and very well crafted. What stands out to me is how Cinderella makes friends with others in the castle and lets them become more than just convenient add-ons to the story. This is a very nice 'escape with a bit of fun' tale, something very much needed in these times. (
