Great coffee table book filled with Black and white photos taken by Ansel Adams. Highly recommended.

I am a fan of black and white photography and love this beautiful book!

The introduction talks about his lifes work. The first camera Ansel Adams received was in 1916 at the age of fourteen. He was deeply influenced by Paul Strand - an American Photographer and Filmmaker.

Sections covered are "Canyons and Caverns", "Mountains and Skies", "Portraits and Close-ups", an "Indian Life, Past and Present".

In addition to his natural scenes, are images of Georgia O'Keeffe and Dorothea Lange along with others he admired and photographed.

It was good to see photographs included of Ansel Adams receiving awards of distinction a few years prior to his death in 1984.

Ansel Adams is een Amerikaanse fotograaf die bekend geworden is met zijn prachtige zwart-wit landschapsfoto's van met name berglandschappen in de Rocky Mountains. In dit boek staat een inleiding en een aantal afdrukken van zijn foto's. Helaas is de kwaliteit van de afdrukken niet optimaal en dat terwijl Ansel Adams ook in dat opzicht een perfectionist was. ( )

How can one criticize a Adams's photos? The only real complaint in a compilation of his art is that it is not complete and exhaustive. Still, this book is a fine sampling of his photos. ( )
