Druid Vices and a Vodka is the sixth book in the Guild Codex: Spellbound series by Annette Marie. Tori has a moral dilemma when her favorite dark druid is caught by bounty hunters while he was pursuing private revenge on the witch who ruined his life. Meanwhile, rogue activity in the city has gone suspiciously quiet. Is it the calm before the storm? Yes, yes it is. This ended up being one roller coaster of a story. The action starts almost immediately and there is barely any time to breathe as Tori and friends race from one emergency to the next. Tori is put through the emotional wringer as she is forced to face some uncomfortable truths about Kai, Ezra and Zach. I was impressed with the author for all the twists she crammed into the story. Even Twiggy gets a chance to shine and may be my favorite part of the book. While the main plot is set up for Ezra's demon problem, I did not expect the situation with Kai's family to manifest the way it did nor did I think Zach would end up as ruthless as he was. This gave the book an unexpected serious tone and left me feeling heartbroken for Tori at how it all ends. Tori is resilient so I'm sure she'll find a way through though I have absolutely no idea how it will all resolve over the remaining two books. It's also the first time I doubt that everyone will make it to the end unscathed. Series Info/Source: This is the sixth book in the Guild Codex: Spellbound series. I borrowed this through Kindle Unlimited to read. Story (4/5): This was a highly entertaining addition to this series . Ezra’s time is running out, Kai has been tracked down by his fiance and Zak has been imprisoned by the MPA. What else could go wrong? There are lots of changes in this book and the pace is non-stop. I also loved the powerful artifact that Tori gains. Most of the story focuses on Zak and his conflicts, which were first brought up in the second or third book of this series. I think this was the best book in the series so far. Characters (5/5): I loved that Zak was back in the story, he’s a great character. I felt like Tori had a lot of character growth as well and really enjoyed the developments between her and Ezra. Marie does an awesome job with characterization and I love the characters in this series. Setting (4/5): The story takes place mostly in Vancouver and like previous books the setting really doesn’t have much impact on the story. It’s well done but not the focus. Writing (5/5): I always thoroughly enjoy Marie’s books. She does an awesome job with characterization and action scenes. The pace is always breakneck and I always find her books completely engrossing. This book was no exception to that, I loved it and whipped right through it. My Summary (5/5): Overall this was my favorite book in this series so far. I absolutely loved it and loved that it focused around Zak. I enjoyed that Ezra’s story continued and enjoyed some of the new magical artifacts that Tori acquired. The story was fast-paced and engaging and I loved every second of it! Druid Vices and a Vodka The Guild Codex: Spellbound Series 6 By: Annette Marie Narrated by: Cris Dukehart I love this series! In this book, all the guys have serious problems going on and The Ghost does too! There has so much friendship between them and betrayal! Life changing events happen that effect the whole group! This book had my emotions everywhere! So much craziness and action! The narration is terrific as usual! You know the narration is good when you forget it is narration you're listening to and not different people talking! Book source ~ Kindle Unlimited Tori Dawson is a student, a bartender, and witch. Sort of. Okay, in name only, but if it keeps her employed at the Crow and Hammer then a witch she is. As long as no one finds out about the little white lie she can stay with her guild mage friends and continue with her non-boring life. Speaking of non-boring, when Tori gets word that her frenemy, Zak, AKA The Ghost (or the Crystal Druid depending on who you talk to) is in terrible danger, of course she has to rescue him. Because once Tori gives her friendship, she’s in it until the end. Even if her friend is an asshole most of the time. Oh man, oh man. This one will gut you down to the bone. Don’t get me wrong, it still has humor and danger and all the things I love about this series, but the ending is…holy shit. The author has really cranked it up a notch and it shows. I have no idea where my favorite characters are going from here, but I can pretty much guarantee it’s not going to be pretty. Though I have no doubt there will be no loss of humor because even in the darkest of times, we still need levity. I’m eagerly awaiting the next book in both this series and the companion one, Demonized. I love this world so much. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

I've said it before, but sometimes I'm a bad person. I cheated on my twelfth grade math final, I've run countless yellow lights, and I gossip about how hot my kickass best friends are. (Good thing my job as a guild bartender doesn't require moral perfection.) But there's bad, and then there's bad. And I'm not sure which applies to a certain dark druid/wanted criminal/reluctant friend of mine. His transgressions include black-magic dealings, kidnapping, and murder, and he's about to add "revenge-fueled killing spree" to his resume-if I don't stop him. Should I stop him? He and his nemesis are gearing up to tear each other apart, rogues and vultures are converging with their sights on the spoils, and the guilds that would normally stomp them into the ground are under attack. We're on the verge of an all-out criminal turf war, and my time to decide is almost up. Who's the real bad guy . . . and do I dare stand in his way? I'm getting a little annoyed by this series, I have to admit—I'm in it for the long-haul, make no mistake. But man...it feels like we're just spinning our wheels with a couple of the storylines (and not in believable ways, mostly just to stretch out the drama), and Tori just refuses to learn or develop in any meaningful way (which is realistic, sure, but irritating in a fictional character after this long).
Still, I enjoy the novels, and am intrigued by some of the developments. Dukehart is fun to listen to—and the way this is interwoven with the other series ensures I'm sticking around. ( )
