A surprising five stars: I have mad respect for any author who can take a story element I dislike, and make me understand it better. In this case, it's daddy kink. I have a visceral negative reaction to it, but James gave me what I needed to grok the appeal, even though it'll never ever be mine. Mad respect. In large part, it works well because the characters are great, all of them. My favorite is Charlie, of course. I thought about dropping part of a star for lack of timely action on abuses, but I'm aware it's too close to reality as written, which is a dirty shame as well as morally corrupt. IMHO people who abuse others should suffer a lot more face-punching than happened herein. 3.5 This was my first Onley James. A quick and rather enjoyable read, even if it was a bit heavier on the family drama that I’d been expecting of a shortish book that was mostly porn-with-plot (well-written porn, mind you). Drama that was solved way too easily in the end for my liking. I’ll probably continue this series, though. Well, we can't all be perfect right? I'm reading this series while I wait for the next book of the Mullvaney's brothers, but I kind of hated it? I like the kink set-up, but it's kind of shitty how the traumas of both the characters are addressed, and their relationship didn't look organic for me. Maybe I will like better the second book, who knows? Lincoln has just recently left the military and now he's a hot shot bodyguard who has just been hired to basically babysit the adult son of a crappy family morals type senator. Wyatt hates his dad, and well he should, and he's damn near suicidal. He is definitely self-destructive. And frankly, with his father, I would be too. Wyatt really does need a Daddy, someone who can take care of him and make him feel better, and give him the love that he so desperately needs to have. It's a good thing that Lincoln is there. I really hate people like Wyatt's dad. I mean, ugh. He should spend eternity burning in a lake of hellfire, with some lava thrown in, just for giggles. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

LINCOLN HUDSON has just been handed the easiest job in the world. Babysit the spoiled son of a conservative senator, keep him out of trouble, and receive a six-figure paycheck. A paycheck he desperately needs. Wyatt's father claims he needs Linc's firm hand and discipline. One look at him and Linc agrees. Wyatt needs discipline.Being the closeted gay son of a family values senator has left WYATT EDGEWORTH with a reckless streak and a love of partying that just cost him eight months of his life and might cost his father his re-election. So now, he has a babysitter. A very sexy babysitter. When Wyatt drunkenly tells Linc he'd make an excellent Daddy, they reach an understanding. Wyatt gets a Daddy and Linc gets a paycheck, then they go their separate ways. For this to work, discretion is key, but with a reporter dogging Wyatt's every move, that might prove impossible.Staying together was never an option, but with each passing day, their feelings only grow. Will they risk it all for what's supposed to be a harmless fling?INTOXICATING is the first book in the Elite Protection Services Series and contains age-gap, Daddy-kink and BDSM elements complete with a HEA and no cliffhangers.Warning: This book contains scenes which may trigger some people including self-harm, suicide attempt, past and present physical abuse, and implied past sexual violence. The romance between them is intense and consuming. There's very little fluff or feelings. There's also little plot outside of their relationship. Or at least, the plot is there, it's just ignored for most of the book and then rushed at the end. I did really like Charlie and I loved her friendship with Wyatt - I just wish there was more of it.
Overall an enjoyable read that will appeal more to those who love hurt/comfort reads. 3.5 stars, rounded to 4. ( )
