Fantasy. Fiction. Mystery. A supernatural force on the loose in San Francisco and a family reunion keeps witch and vintage storeowner Lily Ivory on her toes as she prepares to walk down the aisle . . . When Lily Ivory stumbles on the uniform of a former prisoner from Alcatraz and SFPD inspector Carlos Romero's cousin is kidnapped, Lily suspects something dangerous has been unleashed on the ghost-ridden island of Alcatraz. She'll have to sleuth out the culprit-when she's not busy entertaining her visiting relatives and resolving romantic conflicts as her wedding date approaches. Could recent omens be pointing to the magical threat in her adopted city? If so, she'll have to line up her allies to change the fate of the Bay Area. Because no matter what, Lily's determined to celebrate her marriage with her friends by her side-even if it means battling a demonic foe before she can make it to the altar.… (más)

Lily's wedding to Sailor is fast approaching, but a kidnapping outside her shop on Haight Street and a murder on Alcatraz prove distracting and threaten to jeopardise a lot more than her upcoming nuptials.

I read this right on the heels - literally, as I was on the plane when I started it - of our day-long layover in San Francisco. This was a definite plus, as so many of the places she mentions in the book were places I had just visited.

I've always enjoyed this series, and I'm a little bummed that this one reads like it might be the last; the series arc comes to an end, and all sorts of loose ends are tied off. On the other hand, it was a good story, even if the villain was recycled from a previous story, and the face of villain was fairly obvious early on. I love the characters, and at this point I'm probably devoted to them more than I am to solving the mystery.

Hopefully there are more books to look forward to in this series, but if not, at least it feels like it ended in a good place. ( )

Liliy (a witch) is about to marry Sailor in a handfasting ceremony, but something isn't right.

While sorting through a donation of vintage clothing for her shop, Aunt Cora's Attic, Lily comes across a prisoner's shirt from Alcatraz with the number 258 on it. The shit has very bad energy about it.

Lily donates the shirt to the Federal Park Service that runs Alcatraz. Carlos's (Homicide cop & friend) cousin, Elena comes to pick-up the shirt, which Lily has bound in a series of protective knots.... As soon as Elena steps outside w/ the shirt she is abducted along with the shirt.

Two men have been attempting to obtain the shirt since it first surfaced... which leads Lily back to Alcatraz & the long awaited confrontation between the good powers of San Francisco, the demon & his followers who want to take over.

With the help of the community and her Grandmother's coven, Lily once again takes on the demon that she had originally bound & banished at the Art College. ( )
