Years in the future human-like(?) Venusians are exploring the deserted Earth and its moon trying to determine what happened to the now vanished earthlings. Apparently the Earth culture had many problems (aggression, war) not experienced on Venus. Evidence uncovered on the Moon seems to indicate that some of the population was trying to migrate somewhere else. Most of the book is a scientific detective story trying to find out what happened. There is a villain and some political and personal dirty tricks but this subplot doesn’t really add much to the story. Much of the Venusians’ science seems to be based on theories of Immanuel Velikovsky. Not the author’s best work but still enjoyable with a few plot twists. ( )
