I wanted more insight into motherhood and the struggles of pursuing a creative career, and less memoir-style "who I did in college" type stories. I also bristled at a lot of the judgement toward anyone who has different approaches to life than she does. For all her talk of inclusivity, don't let Ali Wong see you eating white bread or having a traditional wedding. (  ) Elizabeth_Cooper | Oct 27, 2023 | I've watched Wong's stand-up specials, Always Be My Maybe, and Beef and find that she always delivers the raunchy laughs. The book ends on a bit of a downer though, as Wong let her husband write and narrate a fairly long afterword in which he just repeats the events she covered earlier in the book but in a sort of dull passive-aggressive monotone. It could be seen, I suppose, as a sign that their subsequent divorce was inevitable.
