This is the second novel in the Year-of-the-Scarab trilogy. For White Wolf's World of Darkness games Hunter the Reckoning and Mummy the Resurrection and Wraith the Oblivion with strong ties in this one to Vampire the Masquarade.

The Hunters are back and so is Maxwell Carpenter, who turns out to be not such a nice guy and certainly not at all what he seems to be. Beckett turns up and steps into turmoil trying to get some answers for himself. Max is dealing with his own demons, and the Hunters are still mostly blundering around trying to get the hang of things.

I really enjoyed the trilogy and this was on the better half of the stories put out by White Wolf as fiction for their games. ( )
