In this beautiful book, a little girl and her Mommy spend their days doing most things together. WhenMommy gets sick the little girl is the one who makes her Mommy well. The illustrations are beautifully detailed. The little girl’s wild mane changes shape throughout the text making the illustrations more authentic. The close and loving relationship between Mommy and daughter is wonderfully shown with both the text and the illustrations. Parents and children will enjoy reading this one together. ( )

This was a nice and easy childrens books for younger children to understand. The themes in the book were a little bit more mature than I was thinking when I first picked it up, but it worked well with the flow of the story. The mother was creating a fun life for her daughter as they traveled through their days in the small middle eastern village they lived in. All tasks become a little bit more fun when they are together making even the most daunting of tasks enjoyable for this parent daughter duo. But then as the mother becomes sick the amount of activities they do together dwindle and the mothers sisters come to help take care of the daughter. The actual disease of the mother was never stated well but we all knew she was very ill. This theme for a younger child could be relatable for some children that may have gone through a tragedy of this but it could also be quite confusing for a child who has not had to face this amount of adversity in their lives. This story had many twists and turns for being a children's book and it had an overall positive outlook for students. I also really enjoyed learning about the activities of other cultures through the activities the mother and daughter did together. This book would be a great addition to a younger classroom where students are reading more stories that involve different cultures than their own .
