Loved the main characters, Boone and Helaine. They were sweet and cute. While the romance had some steamy adult scenes, compared to most of the BDB & BD Legacy stories, this one was Mellow. Loved the role that Butch took in this one. The mystery and suspense sent my mind spiralling. Butch really showcased his skills in the detective department. This 'case' sent us on one heck of a ride trying to figure out who the serial killer is. There were a few things that bugged me. We didn't get a real answer on a certain connection I noticed between Boone and another character. Yet that connection seemed showcased to me. I felt like some conclusion to that should have happened. The other thing I found odd is the amount of editing/typo errors in this one. They aren't enough to hinder your enjoyment of the story, but they do stand out. You will definitely notice them. I really enjoyed the change up in the way the story was written and can't wait to read the next. J.R. Ward did not disappoint me in any way. This was a really great installment in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series! It’s a little hard to discuss this one without getting into spoiler territory, so I’m going to put the rest in tags. Helania is grieving the loss of her sister by a murderer who hasn’t been caught. She works in a seedy vamp role play club, and witnesses a murder. Syn’s backstory also comes into play. Syn is a character I’m reaaaally on the fence on after this one. Ward left some wiggle room, so we’ll see. I LOVED the relationship between Boone and Helania. Sooo good, great chemistry, and I loved the way certain HEA elements worked out in the end. Trigger Warnings: Please excuse typos/name misspellings.
